Lose Weight USA – Tips

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

You seek weight loss and you are wondering how? Eating like a rabbit isn’t part of the weight loss regimen as many people think.

You can actually eat normally in terms of quantity and quality. The difference between now and the future is that you are trying to reduce calories and that should only reflect in the amount of calories you take. So what you need to learn is the kind of foods you can afford to eat in quantities that satisfy your hunger without accumulating unwanted calories. Fatty foods contain the highest amounts of calories followed by sugary stuffs.

Chicken and Fish contain lean protein and are excellent as part of your weight loss diet. All forms of white meat that contains very little amounts of cholesterol should be part of your diet. For example, eating large quantities of fish shouldn’t negatively impact on you weight loss program. The only precaution is to ensure that you do not use too much fatty oil in cooking it. Some people also suggest not to eat the skin.

Fruits – Fruits are going to be your very good friend from now on. They help to increase your metabolism and so burn up excess energy. Please do not eat fruits alone, you are most likely going to develop iron deficiency anaemia. Vegetarians should know better.

Beans- Beans is an excellent food for weight loss seekers. They contain a lot of proteins but also have some high amount of carbohydrate. So do not eat too much of it at a time.

Diary- There is a lot of low sugar and fat milk available these days. Cottage cheese too is some very good diary products you should go for. Losing weight is serious business, so you must be prepared if you want to go all out for weight loss .

Acai Berries- This fruit from the Amazon now very popular ever since it appeared on Oprah show. It is a high fiber content fruit that helps to create quick satisfaction and you actually stop eating. Unlike other products in the market that cause weight loss in the same way, Acai Berry contains high amounts of vitamins and other nutrients and so you do not become malnourished trying to lose weight. These are very effective natural weight loss methods to adopt.

Healthy eating habits combined with regular exercises and fat binders in some cases are needed to help you achieve weight loss naturally. You will also need to do some research on your own to find out other harmless foods to add to your regimen. Your diet must have a wide variety of foods in order that you can cope. It is important not to get bored in the process. If you make your weight loss diet excite you, you will most likely lose weight consistently every month with very little effort.

Lose Weight USA

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Do you need help to lose weight? You are not alone, many people can use a little help? We would all like to lose weight and every little bit of advice counts. Sometimes, the advice is obscure and a little odd but it does help. No, this is not a hint at some long hidden secrets that will melt fat away while you sleep. Instead, it is simply a means of pointing out some valuable tips and advice that can make a slim waistline more possible. So, here are some lesser known help to lose weight that might prove helpful.

Getting Out into the Sun

No, you can not burn calories getting a tan but the positive effects of the sun include enhancing metabolism. So, spending some time in the sun would prove helpful if you are dieting. As far as help to lose weight goes, it is a minor help for those looking for a little extra boost in their dieting venture.

Exercise After Meals

Here is some important help to lose weight. Immediately after you eat a meal it would be wise to take a 20 minute walk. This way, you will burn off a few calories and get your metabolism slightly revved up. No, walking for a short while after eating will not get you ripped to shreds but it will aid in eradicating unnecessary and unwanted fat by boosting your metabolism in a minor fashion. Yes, sometimes even minor aspects deliver major results.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Taking fish oil supplements is a major help when trying to lose weight. These supplements can be taken by the spoonful or in capsule form. The purpose of these supplements is to provide the body with Omega 3 Fatty Acids. These acids are critical for boosting metabolism. Again, they are not miracle pills but they provide proper supplementation for the body’s ability to perform requisite functions.

Say No to Liquid Calories

Here is a bit more help to lose weight: don’t take your calories in liquid form. Sure, that glass of orange juice looks healthy but it is probably 200 calories. In addition, when you drink it, you will be counting up the same number of calories as an order of French fries. But in fact this will do nothing to stave off your hunger. This is an important point to note. Taking in liquid calories will often lead to significant weight gain. That is why it is very important to go with no calorie liquids such as water, diet soda, unsweetened ice tea, etc. Believe it or not, this approach will provide benefits and visible results and you will lose weight.

How Can I change My diet On A Weight Loss Program

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Many people ask the question once they find out that they have been eating the wrong foods of how they can change their diet on Weight Loss Program

There are so many reasons why they believe it is almost impossible to make the change even though they might be fully aware that the excess weight they are carrying is killing them, irrespective of the Weight Loss Program they are on.

I am sure you have some foods that give you so much pleasure that you
couldn’t bear the thought of having to go without them for any length of
time. Your Weight Loss Program must take this into account.

Did you always like these foods? People drink Whisky straight but can you find any child who can honestly say they like the taste of Whisky? It tastes like poison to a youngster and they have to ’start slow’ and get accustomed to that vile taste so they can drink it like everyone else.

Just as it has taken time to get to the stage where you now enjoy the taste of certain foods it will also take time to get those tastes out of your system where you no longer crave them and can actually find enjoyment from eating food that is good for you. This needs to be factored into the Weight Loss Program

If it sounds like something that you are beginning to believe will cause you great hardship, then you need to understand that this isn’t expected to happen overnight. Use Visualization techniques with your Weight Loss Program

You can make these changes to your diet on a gradual basis where you slowly start replacing poor food with better foods. These good foods will quickly satisfy your appetite and you will be less hungry more often. You will begin to enjoy the taste of these good foods just as you currently enjoy the taste of foods that are full of sugar and other poisons.

You will also find you have increased energy levels as these good foods are what the body is designed to consume and as digestion requires a
considerable amount of energy you will have more energy as the demands on your digestive system will be reduced. Any good Weight Loss Program takes theses factors into account

In addition to that, you need to look at a Weight Loss Program that is easy for you to start and maintain and one that will ensure that you get the results that you require in the fastest and easiest way possible. I can highly recommend the Leanology Weight Loss Program from Leanology Appetite Control Chews

Lose Weight USA – Weight Loss Capsules

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

Many people are searching for quick and effective weight loss. They want to drop countless pounds in a matter of a week and they want to keep it off permanently. Well, quick weight loss is a very challenging process and it requires just the right type of motivation. don’t expect too much at once; that is why the most important thing is setting realistic goals. Given that each pound of fat equals 3,500 calories, you need to be realistic about how many calories you can burn in one day.

Once you have figured out how many calories you want to burn daily, you need to set up a healthy diet plan and an exercise routine for weight loss. Your diet should include all of the necessary food groups because your body needs a lot of nutrients every day. Try consuming more fruit, vegetables, whole grains, protein, lean meats, fiber, and fat-free dairy. Dieting is not really about restricting yourself from majority of foods, it is about portion control. You can still have most of the foods you love, but in moderation. Try having smaller meals more frequently throughout the day. Some foods you should stay away from include fast foods and other foods that are high in fat. This can be especially tricky if you frequently visit local restaurants. It is much better to eat at home and if you decide to eat out, stick with diet friendly meals (which most restaurants have).

And if you are still having problems with your appetite, there are certain all supplements which can help in suppressing your appetite. The Leanology capsules have made quite an impact on people who were struggling with appetite control. So as you can see, with the right motivation and goals, weight loss can be quick and effective.

Weight Loss Plans

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

Most diet and weight loss programs have a depressingly high failure rate, with people either never reaching their weight goals or reaching them and regaining all the weight they lost (and sometimes more) in about one year.

So let’s examine the downside of dieting.

What Is An Unhealthy Weight Loss Program?

  • Any weight loss program that is not nutritionally sound;
  • One that works against what the body naturally needs like vitamins, minerals, and a minimum number of calories a day;
  • One that requires you to go without eating (for example, fasting or meal replacement drinks);
  • One that puts your body into an unnatural state, such as starvation or ketosis.

Your body can only lose a few pounds a week on a consistent basis. If you lose more than that initially, it’s likely just water loss. So any weight loss program that promises you will lose five pounds a week, or 25 pounds in 3 weeks, is guaranteeing you will be losing water and muscle mass not fat.

Almost every popular weight loss program out there falls into one of the following diet categories: low calorie diets, meal replacement drinks, packaged foods, unbalanced nutrients, and ketosis diets. Let’s see how they stack up.

LOW CALORIE DIETS

Whenever you drastically reduce your calories, the body enters an unnatural state and its defences kick in. So when calories drop below, say, 1000 calories a day, your metabolism will shut down in an effort to conserve energy. And weight loss with a sluggish metabolism is very difficult.

Your body will start using muscle tissue to provide energy, which again leads to a decrease in the metabolism. Taken to an extreme, the body will break down its vital parts (such as the heart muscle) trying to meet its energy needs.

In addition to these drawbacks, trying to maintain the weight loss over time is nearly impossible because your body is now used to making do with very few calories. Going back to “normal” eating causes the weight to pile back on.

For this reason, low cal weight loss programs rarely work over the long haul.

MEAL REPLACEMENT DRINKS

One of the most unnatural things for your body is to go without solid food, which is what meal replacement plans ask it to do. Some people think that dieting will be easier if they aren’t confronted with daily food choices and the pounds will just fall off. This may be true while they are on the liquid diet. But what about afterwards?

Where will the good eating habits come from after you’ve lost the weight? This is something that takes time, practice and knowledge. Dieters need to establish a healthy attitude towards a life-long eating plan. And no “fad” weight loss program or liquid lunch can help you with that.

Getting hooked on meal replacements can become a destructive way to view food. It often leads dieters to fear food or binge to “feed” their cravings after a long period of deprivation. And that’s just the psychological side of the equation.

The lack of fiber in such weight loss programs can be a threat to good physical health. And when the body is denied enough solid food, the intestines go into overdrive absorbing calories and nutrients. This helps you during the diet period, but later it makes it much easier to regain the weight.

Another yo-yo weight loss program that hurts you in the end.

UNBALANCED NUTRIENT PLAN

Be cautious about any weight loss program that has strict rules about good foods and bad foods. Sure, high fat and high sugar foods might be considered bad for the waistline, but moderation not abstinence is key to success.

Why? Because eating the same foods every day (say, grapefruit or high protein meals) is going to result in two things: nutritional imbalance and boredom.

All foods are made up of the same nutrients in different amounts: fat, carbohydrates, and protein. It is the right proportion of these nutrients that will bring about weight loss – not the avoidance of “bad” foods and the consumption of only “good” or magical foods.

In the world of dieting, no one food or nutrient group is magical. Variety and moderation are the keys to a healthy diet and a successful weight loss program.

PACKAGED FOODS

To stay at your ideal body weight, you have to learn how to make proper food choices. By following a packaged food weight loss program you are postponing the inevitable, and spending plenty of $$$ in the process.

Another problem with this kind of weight loss program is that the foods provided are not always healthy. Read the package label and you will see chemicals, preservatives, sodium, sugar and saturated fats. And when all you can eat is packaged food, how do you plan meals with other people? Going out to restaurants and parties and enjoying family meals becomes a big hassle.

Your weight loss program then becomes a burden, not only to you, but to those around you.

KETOSIS DIETS

Ketosis has been defined as:

“An abnormal condition marked by excessive production of ketone bodies. Often caused by high-protein, low-carbohydrate diets such as the Atkins diet.”

Atkins and certain other weight loss programs are based on the principle of restricting carbohydrates to the point that the body enters into ketosis. On the surface, a ketogenic diet seems to work for two reasons: First, you’ll lose large amounts of weight, which is very pleasing to the dieter. Secondly, you don’t experience hunger.

But there are serious drawbacks. Your weight goes down due to water loss (which occurs when you restrict carbohydrates) and a loss of lean muscle tissue. This is NOT true, lasting weight loss.

The loss of appetite comes from having ketones building up in the body, which can harm your health. Side effects of a ketosis weight loss program can include fatigue, kidney stones, gout, and muscle loss. The longer you follow such a diet, the greater the risk to your health.

Clearly not a wise choice of weight loss program, not for the short term or the long.

Weight Loss Pills

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Weight loss pills have become popular in the past several years. There are two basic types of diet pills or weight loss pills – ‘prescription’ and ‘non-prescription’ pills.

Prescription Pills :

Prescription weight loss pills are treated like drugs. They require FDA approval and are closely regulated. Some examples of this type of weight loss pills are Xenical (Orlistat), Meridia (Sibutramine) and Phentermine/ Fentermine. To prove their effectiveness in weight reduction, these pills are subjected to a range of clinical tests typically for monitoring health risks and side effects.

Non Prescription Pills

The Non-prescription weight loss pills are also called as weight loss supplements. These drugs can be purchased over the counter as they are subjected to minimal FDA regulation only. Some examples of this type of weight loss pills include pills from TriVita, Metabolife™ and Herbalife™ as well as fat-burners, herbal weight loss pills, stackers, other sports or diet supplements.

The difference between prescription and non-prescription weight loss pills is becoming narrower. Since some types of non-prescription pills can be just as powerful as weight loss drugs. Exception is that these types of weight loss supplements are not regulated similar to prescription weight loss pills. The FDA has issued warnings recently about weight loss supplements that contain ephedra. Hence, many drug manufacturers are now declaring as ‘ephedra-free’ by removing ephedra from their weight loss pills.

Who can benefit from Weight Loss Pills?

Prescription weight loss pills are designed specifically for the treatment of obesity rather than mere weight loss. Despite health risks and side effects, the use of weight loss pills is justified, as obesity is a serious condition associated with serious health risks. Weight loss supplements or Non-prescription weight loss pills should be viewed in similar light.

Do these Weight Loss Pills work?

The answer is both Yes and No. With a proper exercise program and diet in conjunction with medical supervision, weight loss pills or weight loss supplements can be effective in the short term at least. However the benefits may quickly wear off as the body adjusts rather quickly to many weight loss pills.

Weight Loss Trials of Pills clinically:

Clinical weight loss trials demonstrate that by using weight loss pills alone, long term weight control is not possible. A combination of improved diet and physical activity is to be maintained in the long term to maintain weight loss successfully.

Consult your doctor before taking weight loss pills:

You should obtain information from your doctor about the possible dangers and side effects of weight loss pills before taking any weight loss pills.

Lose Weight USA

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Maintaining a healthy weight isn’t a special secret, in fact natural weight loss is about eating properly and regular physical activity; this guidance is lost on many! This is not as simple as it seems though even though the concept is easy to comprehend; a third of overweight Americans and millions globally, would disagree with this advice. The conflicting aspect is that a large percentage of overweight people are desperately trying to lose weight whether it is because they are tired of the looks they receive or for health reasons.

The strange thing is though that it is so much easier to stay trim than it is to lose weight because as soon as you start putting on weight, many things become more difficult. Subconsciously we all know that if we do not maintain a healthy food program for ourselves, we will start to add extra pounds.

Health experts say that most people who are trying to lose weight usually stray and tend to go back to their old eating and non-exercising habits even after they learn to enjoy low-fat eating. Extra weight often results in health issues and can negatively impact on one’s emotional state and self-esteem but all this can be cured with a healthy, natural weight loss program.

The truth is there is a huge price to pay with your health when you are overweight and in particular, clinically obese. If you think about it, losing excess weight by natural methods is the most acceptable way to get rid of those extra pounds but too many people want a ‘quick fix’ system.

Maintaining a natural lose weight plan means sticking to low fat meals that are high in fiber and contain complex carbohydrates with a moderate amount of protein. A meal containing this group would be something like a baked potato, vegetables and some meat, lean of course but it would not contain gravy or sour cream.

Dietary fat is a problem because it is full of calories which will be converted into body fat unlike calories that are consumed in food from other sources. Another problem is the obsession with fat free or low fat foods that food manufactures are stacking the shelves with which despite their popularity are not helping people lose weight.

Whilst completely false, the perception is that you can basically eat exactly what you want provided it is fat-free but there are still calories in the food which can easily be converted to body fat. The term fat-free can be a trap if you start to believe that you can eat any amount of fat-free food when it is far better to respond to hunger with healthy snacks.

Schools of thought differ on this subject but many nutritionists agree that eating smaller meals with a snack every 3 to four hours or between meals could be beneficial providing main meals are not missed. If you are really serious about trying to lose weight, you will have to consider natural weight loss as a long term proposition.

3 Day Weight Loss Diet

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

This 3 Day Diet is a rather famous low calorie crash diet. Some people say that the “special combination of foods” in the menu plan helps produce weight loss in just three days. Claims have been made that you can lose up to 10lbs in just three days.

Here are the instructions for the the 3 Day Diet:

Day One
Breakfast: Black coffee, tea, or water; 1/2 grapefruit or juice; 1 slice toast with 1T of peanut butter
Lunch: 1/2 cup tuna; 1 slice toast; black coffee, tea, or water
Dinner: 3oz. any lean meat; 1 cup green beans; 1 cup carrots; 1 cup vanilla ice cream; black coffee, tea, or water

Day Two
Breakfast: Black coffee, tea, or water; 1 egg (any style); 1 slice toast; 1 banana
Lunch: 1 cup cottage cheese or tuna; 5 saltine crackers; black coffee, tea or water
Dinner: 2 beef franks or hot dogs; 1/2 cup carrots; 1 banana; 1 cup broccoli or cabbage; 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream; black coffee, tea, or water

Day Three
Breakfast: Black coffee, tea or water; 5 saltine crackers; 1 slice cheddar cheese; 1 apple
Lunch: 1 hard boiled egg; 1 slice toast; black coffee, tea, or water
Dinner: 1 cup tuna; 1 cup carrots; 1 cup cauliflower; 1 cup melon; 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream; black coffee, tea, or water.

Note: You are allowed to use sugar substitute with your coffee. You are also allowed to use lemon, salt and pepper, mustard, and cooking spray when preparing food.

It’s quite possible that you’ll lose pounds if you adhere strictly to the weight loss diet. For one thing, the menu plan is very low in calories. In addition, you must drink a lot of coffee, which acts as a diuretic and helps you to lose water weight. Because the diet lasts for only three days, people are likely to stick with it.

But what happens after the three days are over? You might be excited at losing so much weight in such a short time, but those pounds were mostly water weight, not fat. You’ll regain the weight almost immediately when you go back to eating normally.

There’s also a problem with the inclusion of ice cream in this diet. While there’s nothing wrong with ice cream in moderation (and you do eat it in moderation on the weight loss diet), you could start thinking about the ice cream as a reward for sticking to your diet during the day. This is an unwise pattern of thought, to associate food with good behaviour. You want to learn to reward success with something other than a treat.

The menu plan lacks essential nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids and B vitamins, to name just a few. The meals can in no way be considered a healthy eating lifestyle.

The weight loss diet may help some people jump start their way into losing weight. But most people will return to their usual eating habits after the three days. This can lead to a yo-yo dieting effect which is known to adversely affect your metabolism.

Plenty diets and weight loss eating plans are much safer and more effective than this one. It’s really tempting to go for the quick weight loss. But your efforts will be completely wasted unless you are committed to better eating practices after the three days are up.

Lose Weight

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

If you are wanting to lose weight you probably need to change your lifestyle and here are my suggestions

Cut calories
A gram of fat contains twice as many calories as a gram of carbohydrate or protein. Reduce high-fat foods in your diet, choose lower or fat-reduced options, use cooking oil and spreads sparingly and remove excess fat from meat to help you lose weight.

Include lower calorie options in your diet, such as fruit and vegetables. Bulky fibre-rich foods are also a good choice.

Try switching from white to whole meal bread, or choose a whole grain breakfast cereal.

Think about portion sizes
Portion sizes have increased over the years, especially when it comes to ready meals and snack foods. This means we’re consuming extra calories, but we adapt quickly to eating bigger portions and don’t tend to feel fuller as a result.Perhaps buy smaller sized plates.

Downsize potatoes, pasta, rice and fatty and sugary foods, and super size fruit and vegetables.

Watch what you’re drinking
Cut sugar-rich drinks and alcohol, and instead choose water, tea, coffee or artificially sweetened drinks.

Sugary drinks add extra calories to your diet but don’t make you feel full or satisfied or help you lose weight.

Keep a balanced diet
Remember the principles of a balanced diet – include plenty of fruit and vegetables (at least five portions a day), unrefined foods with more fibre, lean meats and low-fat dairy products.

Get active
Becoming more active doesn’t necessarily mean sweating it out in a gym. Instead, try the following way to lose weight:

  • Choose activities you enjoy and try to spend more time each week on these

  • Incorporate more activity into everyday life
  • Buy a pedometer and increase the number of steps you take each day

Another good way to lose weight is to become more active is to focus on spending less time sitting down. At home, limit the time you spend watching TV or in front of a computer screen. At work, take regular breaks and if you want to talk to a colleague, walk to their desk instead of sending an Email.

Fad diets don’t work
Diets that promise quick, effortless weight loss are best avoided. You may lose weight initially, but they’re often difficult to follow in the long term. Often they’re also very restrictive and may not provide all the nutrients your body needs.

Fad diets are those that:

  • Promise a quick, easy fix with rapid weight loss
  • Suggest that certain foods ‘burn fat’
  • Promote the eating of just one of two foods
  • Have lots of rules about how to eat
  • Sound too good to be true

Yo-yo dieting
Many people who lose weight tend to regain it over time. You can minimise the chance of this by making permanent lifestyle changes – by switching to low-calorie drinks and low-fat spreads, for example, or by eating smaller portions. Regular physical activity appears to be especially important in maintaining weight loss.

The following factors are important for maintaining weight loss:

Small, permanent dietary changes
Regular physical activity
Realistic goals
Regular weighing
Support from family and friends

Although no one would suggest yo-yo dieting is a good thing, there’s little evidence it’s harmful to health. However, it’s disappointing and can reduce your confidence and motivation to lose weight.

Recognise that in the period immediately following a diet you’re at high risk of weight gain and you need to take specific steps to avoid it.

Remember to weigh yourself regularly. If you notice your weight increasing, take action immediately. Don’t let a minor lapse become a major problem.

Lose Weight

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

There are many fad diets out there, like Adkins or the Zone diet to help you lose weight. Even crash dieting is quite popular with many people. But eating cabbage soup for a week does not seem healthy nor fun. Doing these diets may show results quickly, but in the end after you stop the diet you tend to gain all the weight back that you lost and sometimes even more.

According to the web site, www.netdoctor.co.UK the body will respond better to a gradual change in diet and exercise. The likelihood of gaining the weight back by doing this is slim. One important factor to consider is that in order to lose weight you must decrease the intake of daily calories and increase physical activity. A tip from netdoctor.co.UK says, “Think of weight loss in terms as permanently changing your eating habits.” This a beneficial tip because in the moment you want to lose weight, but remember in the long term that you want to keep the weight off. In order to lose weight, cutting out 300 to 500 calories a day will lead to losing an average of 1 to 2 pounds a week (www.netdoctor.co.UK). An article, by Diane Lofshult stated, that adults who check nutrition labels when grocery shopping had lower fat diets and cholesterol compared to adults who did not read nutrition labels (IDEA Fitness Journal). In addition, adults that read the nutrition facts had an easier time losing weight or maintaining their weight (Lofshult, IDEA Fitness Journal).
